Hi, all.

I was wondering where to post this (here or in Coding)... but since it requires no coding to be used, I have decided to place it here... though it is no Skinn, Spray, Texture either Neutral

This is a test shader for Parallax Occl. Mapping. See the screens to get an idea:









The shader is availabe for download, use and redist. free of any charge. (though some ackn. is always welcome Wink )

(i hope the link works fine, because it is the only way to the file for now...the FileFront db currently does not accept submittions and the file is not
visible from outside)

Please, read carefully the readme file! Though the shader reqires no coding or altering the structure of existing mods (98.74% plugnplay), there are some tricks to get it working (due to issues with custom shaders in the current SDK) but no fear - it works (i hope)
(you must have a pretty nice card to run it smoodthly, but as a min. it must support ps_2.0a!)

Do not forget that this is the first release (test, alpha, beta...), ALL feedback is HIGHLY appreciated!

Holy shit, this looks awesome in CS:S. I love how if you view it from the side it's still 3D-ish.

Its very nice but unless theres some way to turn it off/on I dont think many will use it in actual maps/mods as the FPS plummets (and ive got a pretty good computer).

Parallax mapping is an exception to the rules of normal shaders, where you would normally need to add additional client code to the mod. Since the code is already there in the engine, all you need is the shader files and the shader dll, and everything should work.
