This was announced a long time ago. Maybe December last year.
I guess they figured how impossable it would be to teach you how to use the coding SDK if you never used C++ before, that and the fact that stuff is constantly changing in the SDK, that it would be better if Valve made a Wiki.

Trust me it's not coming, I never did even get a email from prima after I requested for an answer onto what it wasn’t being released and I even told you all here that I would let you know the verdict, I guess they just couldn’t be bothered to reply, probably because my grammar was really bad back then as I hadn’t written any English in 9 years as I had been living in Spain, anyway I've improved now, mainly due to practicing at my blog and attending college, anyway take a look at this:

Original message by BlackBetty:
I was looking forward to a mod maker's guide for Half Life 2. I heard it's been cancelled.

I don't have specifics for this title, but there are all sorts of possible reasons a product might be cancelled. Often the case is that there wasn't one single reason but a bunch of small ones. In the end it always comes down to three questions:

1. How can we do it?
2. How much will it cost?
3. How much will it return?

A single bad answer, too many unknowns, or just bad luck can all lead to a temporary delay or perminant stop in production.

To answer your unspoken question: Is there anything I (the consumer) can do to restart production on a cancelled title?

Keep in mind that some situations are unsourmountable . For example Prima will never be able to write an official strategy guide for a game if we don't have rights from the game developer.

Keeping that in mind, let it be known that you want the Prima guide. The online petition is a start, but so is asking for the guide at your local retailer or pre-ordering it online. You could also email or write to us (no phone calls for this please).

This might not work and honestly it won't work for the vast majority of titles, but if enough of you want it badly enough you might just change some minds.

Ahhhh and remember this:

Some things get cancelled while they are in production.

Just because someone writes a section doesn't mean it's guaranteed to go all the way through to retail... I mean, lots of games get cancelled after a lot of blood and sweat goes into them, so it's no surprise that the same things happen in all forms of entertainment/work...

There is another company who now take the chance to write the book. They also changed the name to half-life 2 hacks so they can include everything like cheats map strategies and mod chapter with info on a bunch of mods which I wrote a 3000 word part for my mini-mod.
