MAKING A SEE-THRU SPRAY / LOGO / TAG FOR COUNTER-STRIKE SOURCE IN PHOTOSHOP CS

ASSUMPTIONS: It is assumed that you have a basic knowledge of the Photoshop CS layout. Also assumed is that you know how to import a spray in the CS:Source options screen.

FOLDER SETUP: Firstly, make a new folder in your C:\ drive that will be easy to find i.e. C:\TAGS. This is where I put all my images that I am going to make tags with and store the tags here for latter use.

THE GOOD STUFF: 1. Open photoshop and create a new image with a transparent background at 256x256 pixels.

2. Now save it as a 32 bit TGA (compressed) file.

3. Create your image and text keeping in mind that you want a see-thru tag (don’t use the whole area).

4. When you’re done with your images and if you have more then one layer choose Layer / Merge -> Visible, this will merge all your layers into 1.

5. Now we need to create our Alpha Channel. a) First Highlight your image layer then hold ctrl and click on the layer. You should see blinking lines around your image.

b) Go to your layers palette and click the tab "Channels".

c) Now click on Create New Channel (button to the left to the trash can in the layer palette).

d) You should now have a black colored box with the dotted line from your layer in it.

e)Now make sure your Foreground color is set to "White" (rgb code 255 255 255) and press SHIFT + F5 to fill the dotted area with "White" (this defines the area that will be displayed in the alpha channel).

f) Now press Ctrl+D to deselect the dotted lines.

6. Highlight the layer in the layer work area. You should see your picture with a see thru background.

7. Now select File -> Save As -> TGA. Make sure you choose 32bit compressed and save it into the tags folder you made at the start of this tutorial.

Another place of interest is the folder where the tags get stored after you import them: C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\”YOUR STEAM ACCOUNT NAME”\counter-strike source\cstrike\materials\VGUI\logos

NO you can't make see thru logo's in Paintshop Pro (unfortunately) because PSP doesn't support 32bit TGA files that are needed to make a see thru logo in CS:S.
