Headcrab Cannister Info

Have you ever wanted to do the headcrab canisters, like when in the Canals, and in Ravenholm, when those shell things hit the ground and headcrabs popped out? Well, this is how to do it.

Howto

The first thing to do is to place a env_headcrabcanister somewhere in your map. Now, I don't know if this affects anything or not, but you might want to set the angle to up. I haven't tried anything else, but I might ;)

Keys / Values:

Starting height isn't really that hard. All you have to do is to make a new brush, the bottom side on the ground that the head crab cannister lands on and the top side touching the skybox up top. Then, just see how tall it is.

As you can see, the height that we need to set (at least in my map =P) is 2880 units.

As for the flight speed and flight time: Flight time is the amount of time before the headcrab cannister actually comes on screen. When the entity is triggered, it makes a sound, like an artillery. This value determines the amount of time between when that sound is made and when the cannister actually appears.

Flight speed is the speed that the headcrab cannister will travel in units/second, after it appears, to its target.

Lastly, go to the flags section and check the "Land at initial postion" flag. This tells the cannister that it will land at the place that you have put it in the map.

Finishing Up

When you trigger the canister in the I/O system, the input you need to set it as is "FireCanister". This will tell the canister to fire.
