Fixing flipped normals
Alright, so you've exported your static from max and into the game but the normals are flipped? No problem. Sometimes during the process of modeling something happens and your normals get flipped but they look fine in max. It's pretty easy to fix.
Fig 1.
Left: what it looks like in game. Right: what it should look like.
1) Get rid of your physique modifyer and get your model just in editable poly or editable mesh mode. whatever you use to model.
2) On the left hand side in max there is a utilities tab that looks like a hammer. Click that then find "Reset XForm" if its not in your list of buttons click the "configure buttons set" button and find it.

3) Your model in max will probobly flip and make it look like it does in halflife2. Click on the modify tab on the right hand side of your screen and you shuold see a yellow box around your model with a XForm modifyer on your model.

4) Find the "Normal" button. If its not in your list again do the same thing. click the "configure buttons set" button and use the normal modifyer to flip your normals back to the correct direction. After thats done right click on editable poly and click "Collapse All".

5) Redo your physique modifyer, export, and your done.
I hope that fixes your problem!
