Description

The manual-pump shotgun in Half-Life 2 is based on the Italian SPAS-12. This time, however, it only has 6 rounds in its built-in magazine. Primary fire fires 1 shot, secondary fire fires 2.

Techniques

An extremely powerful weapon (besides the Magnum, which requires more accuracy since the shotgun shoots several pellets at once). The shotgun is best used in a close-range environment. If youre in an open area, its best to use a weapon with less spread as the shotgun is terrible at mid to long ranges. Particularly good against the fast zombies you experience in Ravenholm, as a headshot will kill instantly. Also good against groups of smaller enemies, like the legions of manhacks you experience in Chapter 11 - Anticitizen One. When surrounded by a group of strong enemies and ge to the end of the chamber, a good tactic is to switch to the .357 Magnum and aim for the heads. If you cannot do this, an alternate and effective is the "hit-and-run" technique. Once the magazine is empty, dodge/run and let Gordon load in 1 shell, head back to the crowd, take the shot, head for cover, load a shell, and so on.

Targets

  • Headcrabs on Zombies
  • All types of Headcrabs
