As of the Febuary 25th Steam update, the weapon bug were weapons would disappear after a few seconds has been resolved. Weapons now stay on the map.
Instructions
Adding weapons to a map is a very simple process. This is a short tutorial to show everyone how to add a usable weapon to a map.
Step 1: Create a new map or open an existing one.
Step 2: Create a new Entity. It doesn't matter what Entity you use, I know it sounds strange but it works.
Step 3: Right-click the entity and click properties.
Step 4: Click on Class field and rename it to the weapons entity name of your choice.
Step 5: Click Apply and your done. Note: It does not show the weapon model but simply a pink and black checker board.
Conclusion: When the weapon actually spawns in a map it is on its side, laying down. You can play around with the angle to get the desired weapon placement effect.
